К Ордынскому району относится занимающий почти всю правобережную равнину Новосибирского водохранилища Караканский бор. Добраться до него из деревни Нижнекаменки летом можно только переправившись на пароме, зимой устраивают дорогу по льду. Площадь бора 99 тысяч га. В этом крупнейшем лесном массиве участки высокопродуктивных одновозрастных сосняков соседствуют с участками разновозрастных деревьев различных пород. Осенью буквально весь берег моря бывает уставлен палатками рыбаков, грибников и ягодников. На сухих песчаных холмах упругим ковром расселились заросли брусники. В понижениях — черная и красная смородина, черника. В речушках, впадающих в море, хорошо ловится на удочку рыба. Бор является излюбленным местом лосиного стада, постоянно обитающего здесь. Кроме того, зимой в этих угодьях концентрируются лоси из соседних районов. Встречаются барсуки, зайцы, лисицы, сурки.
