Новосибирская область — раздолье для рыбаков. На озерах и реках области, особенно в труднодоступных северных районах, полно водоплавающей птицы и рыбы. В водоемах области большое разнообразие рыбы: судак, сазан, ленок, хариус, нельма, осетр, стерлядь, лещ, карась, окунь, налим, язь, щука, плотва, ерш, пескарь. В прудах области выращивают карпов весом до 10 кг, разводят омуля, сазана и пелядь. Запрещен лов сибирского осетра, который занесен в Красную книгу России, а также занесенных в Красную книгу Новосибирской области стерляди, нельмы, муксуна, тайменя и сибирского хариуса.
Для того чтобы начать ловить рыбу на участках, где выводится рыба для ловли необходимо купить лицензию (обычно лицензия продается на месте, но каждый раз лучше точнять). Находится в 30 км к северу от Купина. Полупресное озеро, место паломничества рыбаков. Сюда от Омска до Новосибирска едут отдохнуть, порыбачить, а зачастую просто закупить рыбу на рыбзаводе. Озеро кишит рыбой. Другого такого места, за исключением, может быть, только участка Оби у Новосибирской ГЭС, в области нет. Яркуль — место зимовки рыб со всего озера Чаны. Наиболее многочисленным видом в зимний период является окунь. В Тагано-Казанцевском плесе многочисленны язь, судак, сазан, карась, плотва. В Чиняевском плесе в значительных количествах обитают все основные виды ихтиофауны: серебряный карась, язь, окунь, плотва, судак и сазан.
