За новосибирским автовокзалом по восьмипролетному путепроводу Красный проспект пересекает бывшая Алтайская железная дорога (Новониколаевск — Барнаул, с веткой от станции Алтайская до станции Бийск). Она была одной из самых крупных частных железных дорог в России. Ее общая протяженность составила 764 версты. Главным инженером строительства дороги был бывший руководитель строительства железнодорожного моста через Обь Г. Будагов. Регулярное движение открыто 21 октября 1915 года. В 1930 году дорога соединилась с Туркестано-Сибирской магистралью. И по сей день она находится в рабочем состоянии и входит в состав Западно-Сибирской железной дороги.
